GIRLS’ BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Bajema has big game as Lynden Christian opens season with win

The Lynden Christian girls’ basketball team opened the season with a 54-47 non-conference victory Monday, Nov. 30, at Anacortes.

Kara Bajema had 15 points, two 3-pointers, six rebounds and three assists for the Lyncs. Haley Hollander had 11 points and Sam Van Loo added nine points and six rebounds.

“It was a really hard-fought game,” Lynden Christian coach Brady Bomber said in a phone interview, “but it was your typical first game of the year. It was really sloppy.”

Brook Geffe led Anacortes with 12 points.

Sedro-Woolley 50, Sehome 44: Samantha Hruby had 13 points, Madison Ulrich added 11 and Sarah Eissess pulled down 12 rebounds but it wasn’t enough as the Sehome girls’ basketball team opened the season with a loss to Sedro-Woolley on Monday, Nov. 30, at home. The Mariners had a 43-25 rebound advantage but went 15 of 65 from the field and 9 of 28 from the line.
