This Nooksack Valley senior helped secure a victory over Squalicum Thursday

The Nooksack Valley girls basketball team earned a 41-19 Northwest Conference victory over the visiting Squalicum Storm Thursday night.

The Pioneers were led by senior Katrina Gimmaka, who tallied a game-high 19 points and shot a perfect 4 for 4 from the free-throw line.

Nooksack’s defense was the star of the night however, as the Storm were held below double-digit scoring in all four quarters.

Squalicum’s Chalae Wolters and Jadyn Hawkinson tied for the team-high in points with six.

Boys’ results

Burlington-Edison 51, Meridian 32 – The host Trojans lost a Northwest Conference game to the visiting Tigers. Meridian finished the regular season 6-14 overall and 3-10 in NWC play.

Girls’ results

Mount Baker 57, Sehome 53 – The visiting Mountaineers earned a Northwest Conference win over the host Mariners. Mount Baker finished the regular season 8-11 overall and 4-9 in NWC play. Sehome has one more regular season game on Monday at home against Burlington-Edison.

Sedro-Woolley 50, Blaine 34 – The visiting Borderites dropped a Northwest Conference game to the host Cubs. Blaine will play at Bellingham Monday in its last regular season game of the year.

Lynden Christian 44, Archbishop Murphy 31 The visiting Lyncs earned a non-league victory over the host Wildcats. Lynden Christian will play Lakewood at home Friday for its final regular season game. The Lyncs are currently the top seed in the NWC at 20-0 overall, 12-0 in league play.

Burlington-Edison 54, Meridian 47 The host Trojans lost a Northwest Conference game to the visiting Tigers. Meridian finished the regular season 15-5 overall and 9-4 in NWC play.
