The Golden Eagles were well prepared for Burlington’s offense on Tuesday night

The Ferndale boys basketball team bolted out to a 30-12 lead at halftime and controlled much of the game en route to a 57-46 Northwest Conference win over the visiting Tigers on Tuesday night.

“I think we were prepared early for their offensive set and in good position to challenge most of their shots,” Ferndale coach Mark Wright said. “I think we controlled the game from start to finish.”

James Hinson led the way for the Golden Eagles with 22 points as the senior got out in the open floor for good looks.

Burlington-Edison attempted to make a comeback in the third quarter, rattling off 19 points. But the Golden Eagles went stride for stride with them and scored 19 points of their own to put the game away.

Boys’ results

Girls’ results

Lynden Christian 55, Sehome 13 – The Lynden Christian girls basketball team let its defense fuel its offense Tuesday as the Lyncs held Sehome to just 13 points to earn a Northwest Conference win. “We’re pretty locked in on defense right now,” Lynden Christian coach Brady Bomber said. “We try to come out as a group each game the right way on defense and we did that tonight.” The Lyncs’ Sam VanLoo led all scorers with 12 points.

Meridian 56, Lakewood 31 – The host Trojans earned a Northwest Conference victory over the visiting Cougars Tuesday night. Meridian is locked in to the second spot in the NWC standings behind unbeaten Lynden Christian.
