Nooksack Valley softball places 3 on all-state tournament team

Three Nooksack Valley High School softball players were selected to the Class 1A All-State Tournament team, which was released Monday.

Pitcher/infielder Olivia Berkan and outfielder Jasmin Zavala were selected to the second team, while catcher/outfielder Brianna Turner received honorable mention recognition.

The Pioneers went 2-2 in the tournament last month in Richland.

Abby England of state-champion La Center was chosen tournament MVP.
