Bellingham’s Rossman selected softball MVP

Bellingham pitcher Eliza Rossman, who led the Red Raiders to the Class 2A District Tournament and a 15-7 record, was selected the All-Northwest Conference Most Valuable Player by league coaches.

Rossman was dominant in the circle, establishing herself as arguably the league’s best pitcher.

Sehome had the most first-team selections with Megan Hall, Tori McDowell and Carissa McDowell earning top recognition. Mariners’ Lauren Dodge was a second-team pick.

Other Whatcom County first-team selections included Lynden’s Alexis Fredin, Mount Baker’s Jordan Miles and Emily Brandland, Lynden Christian’s Sam Van Loo and Hollie Scott and Nooksack Valley’s Brianna Turner and Olivia Berkan.

Second-team picks were Lynden’s Megan Paoli and Elisa Kooiman, Nooksack Valley’s Arlissa Oettel, Bellingham’s Lindsey Richard, Lynden Christian’s Avery Dykstra, Blaine’s Riley Miller and Squalicum’s Kaeli Anderson.

Ferndale coach Holly Hilton was selected Coach of the Year.
