Squalicum’s Wolters signs to play baseball for Big Bend CC
Squalicum senior Ben Wolters signed a letter of intent to play baseball for Big Bend Community College next spring.
Wolters, a right-hander, split time between pitching and playing infield for the Storm in 2016 and helped the team make its first state tournament appearance in 2015, when Squalicum finished third. He went 4-2 with a 2.52 ERA and 23 strikeouts in 35 2/3 innings on the mound this spring. He also hit .260 with seven runs scored, seven RBI and four doubles and led the team with 12 walks and was second with a .415 on-base percentage.
Big Bend went 25-15 overall and finished fifth in the Northwest Athletic Conference’s East Region this spring.
