Pioneers’ Rawls fans 10 in win
Nooksack Valley played to the level of its opponent and then some in a 4-2 Northwest Conference win over Ferndale on Tuesday, April 19.
Noah Rawls pitched a complete game and struck out 10 to hold off most of Ferndale’s lineup. Casey Bauman was 1 for 2 with two RBI and was the difference in the ballgame.
Coach Scott Gelwicks said he stressed the importance of executing offensively to beat a team with a better record all week.
“When we play these better teams we stop doing what we have been,” Gelwicks said. “When you start hitting and running and just stop thinking so much we’re going to be better.”
