Campfield powers Meridian past Lynden Christian

Derek Campfield’s two-run homer in the first inning set the tone in Meridian’s 9-2 Northwest Conference win over Lynden Christian on Thursday, April 14.

Campfield drove in Dakota Jones and the Trojans tacked on one more in the inning to jump out on top 3-0. Starting pitcher Simon Burkett only gave up three hits but walked six and the score was 4-1 until the fourth inning.

”Everything kind of settled down after the first inning so it was good to get an early lead,” coach Steve Slesk said. “The last couple of weeks we’ve really stepped up at the plate.”
