Abshere double powers Blaine to win
A Chase Abshere 2-run double in the fifth inning broke open the game to give Blaine a 4-2 Northwest Conference victory over Lynden Christian on Tuesday, April 5, at Pipeline Fields.
An infield single by pitcher Jon Starcer followed by a clean single by Jalen Kortlever set the table for Abshere who provided the key hit for Blaine. Coach Larry Hoffman said it was a competitive game until his team was finally able to get to Lynden Christian pitcher Payton Robertson.
”They’re a young, scrappy team,” Hoffman said in a phone interview. “We needed a little bit of insurance because even though they’re a young team they’re improving.”
