Ferndale baseball holds off Lynden in eight innings
Ferndale outlasted Lynden 3-1 in eight innings Wednesday, March 30, to improve to 3-0 in Northwest Conference play.
Both teams scored a run in the first inning but were held scoreless until the eighth inning. Back to back singles followed by back to back walks forced in a run for Ferndale and then Matt James drove in a run on a sacrifice fly. Lynden’s Jordan Wittenberg led off the bottom of the eighth followed by a walk but two outs later the game ended on a line drive to third.
“If that ball was a couple feet to the left, we might still be playing,” Ferndale Head Coach Donny Hennigs said in a phone interview. “That was an intense high school baseball game.”
