Nolan, Ming selected All-NWC golf MVPs

Bellingham’s Nick Nolan, who won a Class 2A state championship last week, has been selected the boys’ golf All-Northwest Conference Most Valuable Player.

Nolan shot a two-day 145, winning by one stroke, at Horn Rapids Golf Course in Richland.

Lynden’s Jade Ming, who finished sixth at state with a score of 162 at Columbia Point Golf Course in Richland, has been selected the girls’ golf All-Northwest Conference Most Valuable Player.

Teams were selected by NWC coaches.

Lynden’s Ezra Arneson and Alex Crabtree, Ferndale’s Keenan Souve and Dane Larsen, Lynden Christian’s Erik Vander Velden and Bellingham’s Zach Nolan were first-team selections.

Arneson placed sixth at state, Crabtree placed 15th, Nolan placed 20th, Larsen took 31st, Souve qualified for state but didn’t make the cut and Vander Velden placed 39th.

Girls’ first-team selections included Mount Baker’s Clara Bergman and Natalie Verry, Bellingham’s Emma Lochridge, Alex Ferrier and Sophia Schmidt, Ferndale’s Maeson Mullins and Squalicum’s Christina Kim.

Ferrier placed 11th at state, Lochridge finished 35th and Schmidt qualified for state but didn’t make the cut. Bergman finished ninth at state, Kim placed 25th and Mullins qualified for state but didn’t make the cut.
