Lummi’s Lane posts two top qualifying marks at 1B state meet

Lummi’s Trazil Lane was the top qualifier in the boys’ 200 meters and helped the Blackhawks turn in the fastest qualifying time in the 4x100 relay on Friday, May 27, at the Class 1B State Track and Field Championships at Eastern Washington University.

Lane’s time of 23.17 seconds in the 200 was 17 hundredths of a second faster than second place Gerrit VanBeek of Grace Academy.

Lane also joined with Free Borsey, Mike Washington and Raven Borsey to run a time of 45.52 seconds in the 4x100 relay — more than a second faster than second-place Grace Academy.

Borsey claims sixth

Free Borsey claimed the first medal of the state meet for the Blackhawks, finishing sixth in the triple jump with a leap of 39 feet, 5.5 inches.

Raven Borsey was 12th at 36-9.5.
