Edison wins district championship in discus

Gabrielle Edison took home a district championship with her 116-foot, 11-inch throw in girls’ discus on Wednesday, May 18 during the Class 3A Northwest District Track and Field Preliminaries.

Edison beat out Edmonds Woodway’s Vernice Keyes, who threw 115-7, and Everett’s Elizabeth Casper to earn an automatic berth to next week’s state championships.

The Golden Eagles also had their boys’ 4x400 relay team of Ben Broselle, Dalton Cristelli, Jacob Kildall and Brady Morrison qualify for the next round of districts with a time of 44.77 seconds.

“I thought we did what we needed to do to get those guys qualified for Friday,” coach Ted Genger said.
