Three of the five Ferndale golfers participating in the Class 3A Northwest District Tournament on Monday, May 16, shot well enough to advance to the second day, giving them an opportunity to qualify for state.
Dane Larsen shot an 81 and tied for 10th to lead all Golden Eagle golfers. Behind him were Keenan Souve with an 84 and Liam Stewardson with an 88.
Coach Joel Wark said he was happy to have three golfers advance to the next round, especially because the greens at Snohomish Golf Course were softer than normal.
“Most of them had a difficult time putting today,” Wark said. “As the day went on, they got more comfortable with the putters.”
Seventeen of the 39 golfers playing Tuesday, May 17, will advance to state.
