Clara Bergman shot an 88 to finish third and lead the Mount Baker girls’ golf team to a first-place finish at the Class 1A Sub-District Golf Tournament on Thursday, May 12, at Jackson Park Golf Course in Seattle.
The Mountaineers ended up winning the title with 391 points, and South Whidbey right behind with 396.
Bergman was one of six Mountaineers to finish among the top 14 and advance to next week’s Bi-District Meet, which will be held Tuesday, May 17, at the same course. Joining her will be Danielle Parmer (seventh, 100), Bria Henthorne (eighth, 101), Gemma Wilson (ninth, 102), Asia Roman (11th, 106) and Natalie Verry (tied for 12th, 108).

The Trojans qualified six golfers in the boys’ tournament, which also was held Thursday in Seattle.
Ben Ratzlaff led the way for Meridian in 13th (91). He will be joined next week at bi-district by teammates Pavel Lintz (21st, 96), Jake McKinnon (tied for 22nd, 97), Ryan Holz (26th, 98), Bailey Gilmore (tied for 30th, 101).
Lynden Christian’s Erik Vander-Velden and Mount Baker’s Austin Multop were the top Whatcom County golfers tied for seventh (88). Vander-Velden will be joined by Lyncs teammates Kaden Sterk (15th, 93) and Nick Den-Adel (tied for 19th, 96), while Multop will have teammates Mason Bass (tied for 16th, 95) and AJ Hawley (tied for 19th, 96) joining him next week.
Nooksack Valley had two golfers advance with Levi Tenkley (tied for 28th, 100) and Clayton Stenevich (tied for 30th, 101).
