The Lummi track and field team will send nine athletes on to the tri-district meet after the Blackhawk boys placed second at the Class 1B/2B Northwest District Championships on Wednesday, May 11, at Lummi and the girls placed eighth.
Raeschelle Washington led the way on the girls’ side, placing second in the 200 meters (29.97 seconds), third in the 100 meters (14.32 seconds) and fourth in the 400 meters (1:11.44). Marian Felix was fourth in the javelin (68-6).
On the boys’ side, Mike Washington placed third in the 100 meters (11.83 seconds) and Quincy Lane was sixth (12.91 seconds). Trazil Lane won the 200 in 23.73 seconds, while Mike Washington was fourth (24.20 second seconds). Jonah Ballew was third in the 300 hurdles (50.71 seconds). Free Borsey, Mike Washington, Raven Borsey and Trazil Lane won the 4x100 relay in 44.67 seconds, while Cooper, Mike Washington, Free Borsey and Raven Borsey finished second in the 4x400 (3:41.33). Trazil Lane won the high jump (5-10) and the long jump (17-0), while Caleb Revey was fourth in the long jump (15-11 1/4). Free Borsey was second in the triple jump (39-8), while Raven Borsey was third (36-02 3/4). Stanford Hoskins placed fourth in the shot put (33-5), while Free Borey finished second (154-11), Gene Cultee third (116-6) and Elijah Wilson fourth (106-9) in the javelin.
The tri-district meet will be held Thursday, May 19, at Port Angeles.
