Sehome enters postseason on win streak

Sehome ended its regular season on a six-game winning streak as it beat Anacortes 2-0 on Tuesday, May 3, at Joe Martin Field.

Felix Zavisubin pitched three innings to earn his fifth win of the year but it was Shane Jamison’s RBI double in the fifth inning that boosted the Mariners to victory.

“We’re hot right now,” coach Monte Walton said. “It’s something you always want going into the playoffs.”

Sehome is set to play Cedarcrest in the first round of the Class 2A Northwest District Tournament at noon on Saturday, May 7, at Daniels Field in Anacortes.

Ferndale 12, Blaine 2 (5): Kyler Schemstad drove in five runs as Ferndale won a Northwest Conference game against Blaine. Schemstad was 2 for 3 with a run scored. The Golden Eagles scored three runs in each of its first three innings.

Meridian 13, Mount Baker 0 (5): Meridian scored 13 runs on eight hits to beat Mount Baker in a Northwest Conference game. The Trojans were the beneficiary of 11 walks and Dawson Phillips was 3 for 3.

Lynden 2, Squalicum 1: Jared House drove in the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning to give Lynden a Northwest Conference win against Squalicum. After Jordan Wittenberg singled to start the inning and advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt and stolen base, Jared House hit a fly ball to right field that Wittenberg tagged up and scored on.

Nooksack Valley 4, Lynden Christian 2: Nooksack Valley committed four errors but still held on to win its Northwest Conference game against Lynden Christian. Noah Rawls earned the win as he went five innings and struck out eight. Rawls was also 2 for 2 with two doubles and an RBI.
