Sehome wins district gymnastics title, earns trip to state

The Sehome gymnastics team won the title at the district championships on Saturday, Feb. 13, and will get to compete in the team competition at the State Championships Friday and Saturday, Feb. 19-20, at the Tacoma Dome Exhibition Hall.

Representing the Mariners will be Jordyn Correll, Erin Eiswald, Skylar Walston, Lilly Schoenecker, Bryn Burroughs, Ashley Branch and Allison Kaneshige.

Qualifying for state individually from Whatcom County were Bellingham’s Ginger Mullins and Squalicum’s Jordan Cucksey in the all-around competition. Squalicum also will send Juliana Jeffrey (vault, bars, beam and floor), Amy Flores (vault, bars, beam and floor) and Sidney Krussow (bars and floor) to compete in individual events.

All of the individual qualifiers, and Correll, who leads Sehome in scoring, are freshmen.

Bellingham was third at the district meet.
