Sehome swimmers cut times at district meet
Sehome’s 200-yard medley relay team had the best district preliminary time at 1 minute, 44.39 seconds, three seconds ahead of the next team and two seconds faster than its previous season best.
“There were a lot of season bests tonight,” Sehome coach Don Helling said in a phone interview.
Colin Hakeman will be representing Sehome after finishing top six in four different events. He had the second best time in the 200-yard freestyle (1:51.77) and the second best time in the 500-yard free (4:59.40
Joe Adams had the second best time in the 100-yard breast stroke.
Squalicum’s top swimmer
Jonathan Hegeberg had the fastest time in the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:02.71 and qualified for districts in three more events.
“We had a number of really great swims for Squalicum,” Storm coach Randy Elsner said in a phone interview. “Actually, Whatcom County had a lot of great swims.”
Lynden’s top swimmer
Justin Hagedorn had the fifth fastest time to qualify for district at 1:08.21 in the 100-yard breaststroke.
Bellingham’s top swimmer
Bradley Rubio was fifth in time at 1:58.6 in the 200-yard freestyle and fourth in the 500-yard freestyle at 5:11.47.
