WRESTLING ROUNDUP: Nooksack Valley has strong day at Foss tournament

The Nooksack Valley girls’ wrestling team took seven wrestlers to the Judy Emry Invitational on Saturday, Dec. 12, at Foss High School and came home with two first-place finishers, four second-place finishers and a third-place finish.

“They did fantastic,” Nooksack Valley coach Chad Parson said in a phone interview. “There was no team scoring, but to have all seven girls win all their matches except two, that’s a pretty good day.”

Emma Bruntil won the title at the 125-pound classification, while Nicole Whittern claimed the top spot at 150 pounds. It was the second title in as many weeks for both, as each claimed first at Jump On In Tournament at Yelm a week earlier, when the Pioneers finished fourth overall.
