Red Raiders volleyball rallies to stay alive
The Bellingham volleyball team opened the Class 2A Northwest District Tournament with a 3-0 loss but rebounded to beat Cedarcrest 3-0 in the consolation first round on Wednesday, Nov. 4, at Shorecrest High School.
In the 25-16, 25-19, 25-19 loss to Archbishop Murphy, Summer Douglas had five kills, Cassidy Fulton had 22 assists and Sophia Lawrence had 13 digs.
In the 25-15, 25-12, 25-16 win over Cedarcrest, Douglas and Oliva Ferguson had eight kills each, Fulton had 31 assists, Lawrence had 23 digs and Joclyn Johnson added five blocks.
Red Raiders coach Jessica King said she likes how her team is playing right now.
“I think we’re still going up,” King said in a phone interview. “We kind of have a chip on our shoulder and we are really aggressive and I like that.”
Bellingham faces Squalicum on Saturday, Nov. 7, at Shorecrest in a loser-out consolation semifinal.
