Ferndale middle blocker Rose Compton committed to NCAA Division I Columbia University, she announced on Twitter Thursday, Oct. 15.

“Officially committed to play volleyball for Columbia University today! Giddy with excitement,” Compton tweeted.

The Golden Eagles senior is one of the tallest players in the league at 6-foot-2 and has established herself as one of the top middle blockers in the league, forcing opposing hitters to find other ways around the hit-stuffer.

In her time with Ferndale, the Golden Eagles have gone to two Class 3A state tournaments and appear on their way for a third straight.

Columbia University is a part of NCAA’s Ivy League, playing against the likes of Harvard, Yale and Princeton.
