Lynden girls’ soccer wins 3-0 against Blaine

Lynden girls’ soccer stepped up defensively to win 3-0 against Blaine on Tuesday, Sept. 22, at Bender Fields.

“The offense kind of took care of itself,” Lynden coach Carlos Melendez said in a phone interview. “But defensively we were concerned about Ashley (Quesada) and the defense stepped up to cover for that.”

Lily Bogart and centerback sweeper Ali VanZanten stood out blocking Quesada, which really helped the team pull forward, Melendez said.

Both teams play again on Thursday, Sept. 24. Lynden plays at Lynden Christian at 4:30 p.m. and Blaine goes up against Squalicum at 4 p.m. at Northwest Soccer Fields.
