Kim Hazlett scored three goals for Squalicum girls’ soccer in a 4-0 win over Bellingham on Thursday, Sept. 17, at Civic Stadium.
Bellingham coach Mark Wright said the plan going in was to play defensively and the first half was evenly matched until Hazlett’s first goal just before the second half.
“It was just a matter time and Kim started putting away those opportunities she had,” Squalicum coach David Kish said in a phone interview. “We also played really well as a team, especially in the second half, getting her those opportunities.”
Both teams compete again on Saturday, Sept. 19. Bellingham plays at noon at Meridian High School and Squalicum is at Cedarcrest at 2 p.m.
