Ferndale golfers Keenan Souve, Daniel Erickson and Dane Larsen qualified for the Class 3A State Tournament during the final day of the 3A District Tournament on Tuesday, May 19, at Battle Creek Golf Course in Marysville.
Golden Eagles coach Joel Wark estimated it’s the first time in the past 10 years Ferndale has advance multiple golfers to state.
“If you would have told me at the beginning of the season we would have three golfers going to state, I would have been in shock,” Work said in a phone interview. “I’m pleasantly surprised, and it’s one sophomore, one junior and one senior going for the first time. It will be a great experience.”
Souve shot a 77 Tuesday for a 160 two-day total, which was good for a tie for eighth place. Daniel Erickson fired a 76 for a two-day total of 157, good for sixth overall, and Dane Larson’s 88 made for a 169 two-day total and a 17th-place finish.
