The Blaine Borderites shut out the Nooksack Valley Pioneers 3-0 in a nonconference soccer match on Saturday, Sept. 17, at Pipeline Field.
The Borderites struck quickly, scoring three minutes into the match off a goal from Gracelyn Economy that was set up by a cross from teammate Sky Nolasco. Blaine continued its scoring in the second half at the 62-minute mark from an unassisted goal by Maya Ball, and Ball scored again eight minutes later at the 70th minute that was assisted by Nolasco.
“The girls came out with confidence, and it was great that we scored early,” Blaine coach Kelly Tuski said. “I thought we relaxed a bit too much after that first goal, but we kicked it up a notch in the second half and were able to score two more goals.”
Goalkeeper Tessa Kelly registered a clean sheet with five saves for the Borderites.
