WWU men lose to Hawaii Pacific

Western came up short in an 82-76 loss to Hawaii Pacific on Sunday, Nov. 29, in a non-conference game as part of the Hoops in Hawaii Classic.

Senior point guard Ricardo Maxwell scored 27 points and junior forward Jeffrey Parker had 25 points.

The Vikings (5-3) trailed by 10 points at halftime but came closer to a lead with 78-76 and 11-seconds remaining in the game. Hawaii Pacific closed out the game scoring the final six points for a third consecutive win.

Maxwell matched his season high in points scored with 27, shooting 11-for-19 from the field while playing all 40 minutes.

Parker continued his early-season scoring binge with 25 points, including six three-pointers. In eight games this season Parker leads the Vikings averaging 20.1 points per game.

The Vikings open Great Northwest Athletic Conference play at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 3, against Saint Martin’s at Whatcom Pavilion.
