WWU women open Oahu Thanksgiving Classic with win

Western Washington University’s women’s basketball team defeated Chaminade 61-53 on Thursday, Nov. 26, in Honolulu, Hawaii as part of the Oahu Thanksgiving Classic.

Kiana Gandy led the team with 16 points but Taylor Peacocke (14) and Kayla Bernsen (13) also scored in double figures.

WWU shot 48 percent from the field in the second half to hold onto its four-point halftime lead. The Vikings also outrebounded the Silverswords 40-32 led by Aleisha Hathaway’s seven boards.
