WWU men’s basketball blast Multnomah

Western Washington University forward Jeffrey Parker scored 23 points to lead five Vikings in double figures in scoring in a 115-71 victory over Multnomah on Saturday, Nov. 14, in a non-conference game at Skagit Valley Community College.

The Vikings improved to 3-1 overall in the young season. The game did not count towards the standings for the NAIA Multnomah Lions.

Parker was 9 for 16 from the floor, with six of his seven misses from three-point range. The junior is the Vikings leading scorer through four games averaging 19.8 points per game while shooting 48.3 percent from the field.

Also recording double-digits in scoring was senior guard Ricardo Maxwell with 18 points and 5 assists, senior center Mac Johnson with 17 points and 6 rebounds, senior guard Kyle Impero with 16 points and senior center Blake Bowen with 15 points in 11 minutes of action.

The Vikings held a 52-35 lead at halftime, with Johnson scoring all of his points during the first half (6-for-9 shooting).

WWU nearly doubled up the Lions with a 63-36 advantage in the second half, while resting many of the starters. Bowen scored 13 of his 15 points in the second half while Parker was 5-for-7 shooting with 12 points.
