WWU enters GNAC womens’ soccer tournament as top seed
The Western Washington University Womens’ soccer team will be the top seed and will face Montana State Billings in the semifinals of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Tournament on Thursday, Nov. 5, in Burnaby, B.C.
The Vikings (16-1-1 overall, 11-0-1 GNAC) stormed through the regular season with an undefeated conference record of 11-0-1. Montana State Billings (8-6-2 overall, 6-5-1 GNAC) broke a three-way tie for fourth place entering the final day of the regular season to earn the final berth into the tournament.
The first match of the tournament will feature No. 2 seed Concordia against No. 3 seed Seattle Pacific at 4 p.m. The Montana State-Western semifinal will follow at 7 p.m. The two winners in the semifinal round will meet Saturday, Nov. 7, at 1 p.m. with the winner receiving an automatic berth into the NCAA Division II Tournament, which begins Nov. 12.
The Falcons are the two-time defending GNAC tournament champions, upsetting WWU each of the past two years in a shootout.
