WWU men downed in double overtime

Western Washington University mens’ basketball opened the exhibition season with a double-overtime 117-113 loss against Team Another Level on Sunday, Oct. 25, at Whatcom Pavilion.

Former Viking Alfred Davis hit a go-ahead three-pointer with 11 seconds left in the second overtime to give Team Another Level the lead for good.

Junior forward Jeffrey Parker led the Vikings with 29 points on 10 of 14 shooting, including 5 of 7 from behind the 3-point arc. Parker hit a game-tying 3-pointer at the buzzer to force a second overtime.

Senior point guard Ricardo Maxwell added 22 points (10-for-14 from the free throw line) and contributed 6 assists. Five Vikings reached double-digits in scoring, including Colby Mitchell with 13 points and 9 rebounds, Kyle Impero with 16 points with 6 assists and Trey Drechsel with 14 points and 7 rebounds.

The late-game dramatics were just beginning when Impero drew a blocking foul with 8-seconds remaining in regulation and hit the back end of a trip to the free throw line to tie the game 91-91 and push the game into overtime.
