Bernsen, Peacocke named to GNAC preseason all-conference team
Western Washington University senior center Kayla Bernsen and junior guard Taylor Peacocke were unanimous selections to the 2015-16 Great Northwest Athletic Conference Preseason Women’s Basketball All-Conference team announced today from the conference office in Portland, Ore.
Bernsen was a 2nd-team GNAC All-Star in 2014-15 averaging 11.7.0 points per game (19th in GNAC), 6.7 rebounds per game (6th in GNAC) and 1.7 blocks per game (2nd in GNAC). In three seasons with the Vikings Bernsen ranks 10th in school history with 115 blocked shots.
Peacocke was also a 2nd-team GNAC All-Star as sophomore in 2014-15 averaging a team-leading 13.5 points per game (10th in GNAC). The two-sport student-athlete (also plays softball for the Vikings) also ranked 5th in the GNAC last season in free-throw percentage (86.9/93-for-107) and 15th in steals (1.4 Avg/G). Peacocke received the second-most votes in the preseason tally from league coaches.
