Looking for another run deep into the NCAA Division II national playoffs, the Western Washington University women’s soccer team will be making two exhibition appearances and playing nine regular-season games at Robert S. Harrington Field during 2015 season. Making that announcement was WWU head coach Travis Connell.
Connell, who is beginning his 13th campaign directing the Vikings’ program, has posted a 157-62-24 record at WWU, making him the winningest soccer mentor in school history. He has led WWU to a 55-7-5 record over the last three seasons, the Vikings reaching the West Regional final in 2012, the NCAA II national semifinals in 2013 and the second round of the national tournament in 2014.
Last year, WWU finished with a 16-1-4 record and was ranked No.17 in the final National Soccer Coaches Association of American Top 25 Poll. The Vikings were 11-0-3 in Great Northwest Athletic Conference action, winning the regular-season title and placing second at the GNAC Tournament.
Following an exhibition at Trinity Western BC on Aug. 20 (7 p.m.), WWU hosts exhibitions with Fraser Valley BC on Aug. 25 (7 p.m.) and British Columbia on Aug. 29 (4 p.m.).
The Vikings play nine regular-season home games. They entertain Cal Baptist on Sept. 3 (7 p.m.), Sonoma State on Sept. 5 (4 p.m.), Saint Martin’s on Sept. 24 (7 p.m.), Trinity Lutheran on Oct. 3 (4 p.m.), Central Washington on Oct. 8 (7 p.m.), Montana State Billings on Oct. 10 (4 p.m.), Seattle Pacific on Oct. 17 (7 p.m.), Simon Fraser on Oct. 22 (7 p.m.) and Northwest Nazarene on Oct. 29 (7 p.m.).
All the regular-season home contests except for Cal Baptist, Sonoma State and Trinity Lutheran are GNAC counters.
