Two Western Washington University student athletes, women’s javelin thrower Katie Reichert and men’s distance runner Nathan Richards, were named to the College Sports Information Directors of America/NCAA Division II Capital One District 8 Academic Cross Country and Track & Field Team announced Friday, May 22.

Reichert is a communication studies major maintaining a 3.54 grade point average. A two-time Great Northwest Athletic Conference academic all-star, she placed second at the NCAA II National Outdoor Track & Field Championships last year and is currently competing at this year’s national meet, entering as the third ranked competitor in her event.

Richards is a biology and anthropology major with a 3.58 GPA. He earned GNAC academic all-star honors in both track and cross country for the second time.

Richard placed 94th at the NCAA II National Cross Country Championships last fall as the Vikings finish 13th in the team standings, and helped WWU to a fourth straight title in outdoor track.
