Western Washington University remained No. 10 in the second NCAA Division II West Region rating released Wednesday, April 22.
The Vikings are 24-16 overall and tied for second in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference standings at 13-7. They have already qualified for the GNAC Tournament on Apr. 30-May 2.
Dixie State (38-6) leads the region, followed by Cal State Monterey Bay (41-9), Cal Baptist (37-9), Humboldt State (38-12), Sonoma State (35-16), Saint Martin’s (28-13), Chico State (22-18), Hawaii Hilo (30-16), Cal State East Bay (25-22) and the Vikings.
The eight-team regional field will be made up of the post-season tournament champions from the GNAC and California Collegiate Athletic Association, the regular-season Pacific West Conference champion along with the other five highest ranked teams in the final poll.
The NCAA II West Sub-Regional is scheduled for May 8-9 and the NCAA II West Super Regional for May 22-23. The winner advances to the NCAA II National Championships on May 28-June 1.
WWU has not gotten to regionals since the 2011 season. The Vikings also made appearances in 2003 and 2007.
