WWU volleyball signs middle blocker for letter of intent

Jenna Widman, an all-star middle blocker at Community Colleges of Spokane, has signed a national letter of intent to play volleyball beginning this fall at Western Washington University. Making that announcement on Monday, April 20, was Vikings’ head coach Diane Flick.

The 6-foot Widman earned second-team American Volleyball Coaches Association/Northwest Athletic Conference All-American and first-team NWAC East Region All-Star honors as a sophomore last fall for the Sasquatch. She helped them to a 19-5 record and NWAC final, averaging 2.60 kills (213) on .296 attack percentage and 1.12 blocks (92).

Widman was a second-team Northeast A League all-conference choice as a junior and senior at Lakeside High School. As a senior, she helped the Eagles win conference and regional titles and place second at Class 1A state tournament. Twice a most inspirational award winner, she was a three-year starter and letter.
