Western Washington University announced the signing of 21 student-athlete to the cross-country and track and field programs Thursday, and Sehome graduate Ben Malquist was among the group.

Malquist won the past two Class 2A state titles in the shot put, throwing a personal-best 57 feet, 6.75 inches last spring and 51-11 in 2016.

As a senior, Malquist also placed third at the state meet in the discus with a throw of 160-2.
