Blaine alum honored after strong showing for Wyoming golf team
Former Blaine golfer Ryan Wallen was selected the Mountain West Golfer of the Week for his performance at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic in Chandler, Ariz., last weekend, according to a press release on Wednesday, April 6.
Wallen, now a junior at the University of Wyoming after he won a WIAA state title as a sophomore at Blaine, is the first Cowboy to earn the honor in nearly 16 years.
Wallen shot below par in all three rounds of the tournament (71, 69, 68) for an 8-under total of 208, which tied him for fifth — his second top-five finish of the season. He helped the Cowboys finish third overall.
His 4-under 68 in the third round was a season best and lowered his season stroke average to 72.6 per round, which is third best on the team.
