For the first time in program history, the Whatcom Community College men’s basketball team advanced to the Northwest Athletic Conference championship game Sunday, March 13, in Everett, but the Orcas came up short, falling 91-84 to Spokane.
WCC (23-10) battled back from a 15-point halftime deficit to make things close. Sehome alum Leif Anderson scored a team-high 18 points in the game, including four 3-pointers, while Bellingham alum Logan Schilder added 16 points and 13 rebounds.
The Orcas beat Clackamas 79-58 in the March 5 regional round, before topping Columbia Basin 64-47 in a quarterfinal Friday, March 11, and Clark 74-58 in the semifinals Saturday, March 12.
