Nolan brothers combine for 2nd place at state
Bellingham’s Nick Nolan won a Class 2A state title during the State Championships on Wednesday, May 25, at Horn Rapids Golf Course in Richland.
Nolan improved his score by five strokes on the second day of the tournament to beat Liberty’s Luke Hall by one stroke. Nolan said he was “pretty stoked” about winning the title and that this year was a big year for him.
Bellingham also finished second in team points thanks to Nolan’s brother Zach Nolan (77). The two combined to score 69.5 points which only trailed Liberty’s 120.5.
“It was quite an event for the two brothers,” coach David Bobillot said. “One of them wins a state title and the other shoots a career best.”
Lynden’s Ezra Arneson (74) was seven strokes behind Nolan and finished in sixth place. Alex Crabtree struggled a bit, finishing in 15th place while shooting an 82.
Sehome golfer Kyle Reilly cracked the top 10 following up his first day score of 76 with a 79. He finished 10th place with a two-day total of 155.
