France's World Cup Prize Money: How Much Will They Earn After Losing to Spain?
Spain defeated France 2-0 at Dallas Stadium on Tuesday to book their place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup final.
The reigning European champions secured the victory through goals from Mikel Oyarzabal and Pedro Porro, ending France's hopes of reaching a third consecutive World Cup final.
France's World Cup campaign will now end with the third-place playoff after their semifinal defeat to Spain.
How Much Will France Earn at World Cup?
The French Football Federation has already secured approximately $30.2 million for reaching the semifinals, and Les Bleus will now face the loser of the other semifinal between Argentina and England for third place.
A victory in that match would see France finish third and earn approximately $34.9 million in prize money, while a defeat would leave them fourth with around $31.6 million.
Separate from performance-based prize money, FIFA also provides an additional $2.9 million to every participating federation to help cover travel, accommodation, and other logistical expenses throughout the tournament in North America.
The players do not receive the full prize pool directly, as the French Football Federation typically allocates around 30% of the prize money as squad performance bonuses.
The remaining 70% is retained by the federation to support grassroots football, youth development programs, and amateur leagues across France.
