USA Basketball Adding 2 NBA Coaches to Erik Spoelstra's Staff: Report
After Steve Kerr led USA Basketball to an Olympic gold medal at the 2024 Paris Games, long-time Miami Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra was named Kerr’s national team successor.
Now, USA Basketball is starting to build out its coaching staff under Spoelstra.
Oklahoma City Thunder head coach Mark Daigneault, Detroit Pistons head coach JB Bickerstaff and Gonzaga head coach Mark Few are expected to be named as assistant coaches, according to a report from ESPN insider Shams Charania on Tuesday.
Few served as a USA Basketball assistant coach alongside Spoelstra since 2021. However, this will be the first national team coaching experience for both Daigneault and Bickerstaff.

Daigneault and Bickerstaff both led their respective NBA teams to No. 1 seeds this past season. The Thunder secured the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference, ultimately falling short of their back-to-back championship aspirations with a loss to the San Antonio Spurs in the conference finals. The Pistons notched top position in the Eastern Conference before falling to the Cleveland Cavaliers in Round 2.
