Who Is Aymeric Laporte's Wife? Meet Professional Dancer and Former Cheerleader Sara Botello
Spain currently boasts the best defense at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, having conceded just one goal so far. That defensive strength has been one of the biggest reasons behind Luis de la Fuente's side reaching the semifinals.
One of the key figures at the heart of that back line is Aymeric Laporte.
The veteran defender has been a regular in Spain's defense throughout the tournament, starting in the group-stage matches against Cabo Verde, Saudi Arabia, and Uruguay before helping his team through the knockout wins over Austria, Portugal, and Belgium.
As Laporte prepares to face France in the World Cup semifinal, here's a look at his life away from the soccer field.
Meet Aymeric Laporte's wife, Sara Botello
Aymeric Laporte's wife is Sara Botello, a professional contemporary ballet dancer and former cheerleader for Bilbao Basket. The couple met during Laporte's early playing days in Spain and got married in June 2023.
The pair first met while Laporte was playing for Athletic Bilbao. After getting engaged in June 2022, they tied the knot a year later in a lavish wedding ceremony in Spain. Several high-profile guests attended the wedding, including Laporte's former Manchester City teammates Erling Haaland and Rodri. Today, the couple has two children together.
Botello, 30, is originally from Bilbao and grew up in the city's Zurbaran neighborhood. During her childhood, she played futsal for several years before pursuing dance and eventually becoming a professional contemporary ballet dancer.
When the 32-year-old defender returned to Bilbao after seven years, he celebrated the moment with his wife, a Bilbao native, and their children by posing for photos on the pitch following his first match back.
Laporte was visibly emotional during the postgame press conference, and Botello later shared the special moment on her Instagram.
Does Aymeric Laporte have Kids?
Aymeric Laporte and Sara Botello have two children together.
Their first child, a son named Lucay, was born in August 2021. Their second child, a daughter, was born in May 2024, just weeks before Laporte joined Spain for the UEFA Euro 2024 tournament.
