Kraken wrap NHL draft: Scouting reports, key facts for each Day 2 pick
Starting with Chase Reid at No. 7 overall, the Kraken selected a total of five defensemen during the 2026 NHL draft this weekend. They added three forwards to that haul.
Here is whom Seattle added during Saturday's second and final day of the draft:
Casey Mutryn
Round 2, pick 38
Position: RW
Shoots: R
Birthplace: Norwell, Mass.
Last team: U.S. National Team Development Program
Height: 6-foot-3
Weight: 206 pounds
What to know: Son of former New England Patriots quarterback Scott Mutryn, who split time at Boston College with future Seahawks QB Matt Hasselbeck. Older brother Teddy was drafted in the third round, 95th overall, by the San Jose Sharks last year. Both brothers are expected to play at Boston College.
Scouting report: "A strong straight-line skater with a powerful shot, Mutryn has the prototypical power forward style. He fires off the rush after driving through traffic, faking before curling the puck around a stick. If there's some space, he drops the shoulder to get to the net. Once there, he creates traffic and spins off contact for rebounds. Mutryn also brings puck-retrieving and defensive value, often leveraging his desire to make contact to win possession." -EliteProspects
Viktor Fedorov
Round 4, pick 99
Position: C
Shoots: L
Birthplace: Tomsk, Russia
Last team: Chaika Nizhny Novgorod (Russia)
Height: 5-11
Weight: 183
What to know: His 200-foot game earned him a call-up to the KHL level early in the year. He spent most of the season in a bottom-six role in the VHL, also known as the Supreme Hockey League.
Scouting report: "The diminutive forward is highly regarded for his exceptional defensive maturity at a young age, paired with some flashes of offensive skills here and there. He's a cerebral and competitive player, playing bigger than his size and always finding himself in the right spots. There is good pace in his game, never taking the foot off the gas, forcing quick decisions and turnovers in his own end, forechecking hard, and winning battles despite the size. The shortcomings appear on the offensive side of the puck. This isn't to say he's bad, as he can flash really impressive moments with his hand-eye coordination, good decision-making with the puck on his stick, and some nifty passes through traffic. Consistent high-end ability and play-driving lacked though, and the production was underwhelming." -McKeen's Hockey
Finn Kearns
Round 5, pick 131
Position: D
Shoots: L
Birthplace: Aurora, Ontario
Last team: Sudbury Wolves (Ontario Hockey League)
Height: 6-3
Weight: 206
What to know: Split the season between St. Andrew's College and the OHL's Wolves. Captained the St. Andrew's team. He dressed for 15 regular-season games with the Wolves, recording one assist and collecting 17 penalty minutes. … Committed to UMass. … Seattle selected David Goyette (2022) and Nathan Villeneuve (2024) out of Sudbury as well.
Scouting report: "Showing that I'm aware of who I really am as a player, which is penalty kill, shutdown, physical - I think that awareness is pretty attractive to pro teams. Despite having the opportunity to play on the power play and stuff like that in prep, I really needed to stay true to my identity as a player, to not let that confuse me in any kind of way. My main purpose on the ice is to play defense." -Kearns himself, to The Sudbury Star
Luken (Hawke) Huff
Round 5, pick 148
Position: D
Shoots: R
Birthplace: Mazama, Wash.
Last team: Cedar Rapids RoughRiders (U.S. Hockey League)

Scouting report: "Operates with a projectable pro frame and can eat up a high volume of minutes, seal up walls under pressure, and push physicality." -EliteProspects
Ola Palme
Round 6, pick 166
Position: D
Shoots: L
Birthplace: Stockholm
Last team: Växjö Lakers HC (Sweden)
Height: 6-2
Weight: 201
What to know: Anchored Sweden's blue line to gold at the U18 World Championship, averaging more than 15 minutes per night.
Scouting report: "Palme is the kind of defenseman who gets undersold on draft boards because the appeal is in his reliability rather than highlight offense. He posted 14 points in 20 U20 Nationell games for Växjö plus eight points in five playoff games … He skates cleanly, defends the rush with good positioning, and his value shows up in breakouts and transition, where he finds the first outlet under pressure and moves play north." -Dobber Prospects
Rylan Singh
