Minnesota Vikings 2026 Training Camp Preview: It's Now Kyler Murray's Team

With several teams kicking off their organized team activities this week, the NFL offseason is in full swing.

Teams have OTAs sprinkled in over the next three weeks before a month-long break until training camp begins in mid-to-end July.

We'll be reviewing the major offseason changes for all 32 teams in addition to previewing what to expect from each team as they head into training camp. Below is our 2026 training camp preview for the Minnesota Vikings.

Analysis:

It could be argued if the Vikings had better quarterback play last season, they could've had a shot at the division title and making a deep playoff run.

Enter two-time Pro Bowler Kyler Murray.

Murray is seemingly already ahead of J.J. McCarthy on the depth chart, and with the way McCarthy has handled the competition between the two, he's not doing himself any favors with the coaching staff.

The Vikings have the makings of a top-10 offense with Murray under center plus running backs Aaron Jones, Jordan Mason, and rookie sixth-round pick Demond Claiborne, wide receivers Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, and newly signed Jauan Jennings, and tight end T.J. Hockenson.

Minnesota had the No. 3-ranked defense in the NFL last season, and it infused the unit with youth in the draft with first-round defensive tackle Caleb Banks, second-round linebacker Jake Golday, third-round defensive tackle Domonique Orange, third-round safety Jakobe Thomas, and fifth-round cornerback Charles Demmings.

If Murray plays like he does in 2020 (3,971 yards, 26 touchdowns, 12 interceptions, 94.3 passer rating) or 2021 (3,787 yards, 24 touchdowns, 10 interceptions, 100.6 passer rating), the Vikings could be a 12-win team, compete for a division title, and win a playoff game.
