Tennis Players Heartbroken Over Hailey Baptiste's Injury Diagnosis
Unfortunately, American tennis player Hailey Baptiste's run at Roland Garros and her 2026 season ended at the same time.
Baptiste proved herself on the clay courts this season, making an appearance in the Madrid Open semifinal and defeating former champion Barbora Krejčíková in the opening at Roland Garros. Her second-round match against Wang Xiyu was ultimately cut short due to a serious knee injury.
During the late stages of the first set, Baptiste landed awkwardly on her left leg. She confirmed on Friday that she suffered a season-ending injury.
"The most heartbreaking end to the best season of my life. Still waiting to wake up from this nightmare. In my head, all I can think is why, why, and why. Why me? Why now? And why like this? It's hard to see any purpose in something like this right now, but in my heart, I truly believe everything happens for a reason," Baptiste wrote on Instagram.
"It's been a long and heavy couple of days filled with bad news, uncontrollable tears, and a million thoughts running through my head. This new, but somewhat familiar, challenge faces me with what will probably be one of the hardest chapters of my life, and I'm beyond ready to show how strong I really am."

Several tennis players who have competed against or alongside Baptiste sent her encouraging messages this weekend.
"Hailey we all love you," American tennis star Amanda Anisimova wrote. "You will be back stronger than ever."
"Love you Hailey," Caty McNally commented. "You will come back from this stronger and better than before. Always here for you. Praying hard. Gods got you."
"The comeback will be worth it," McCartney Kessler said.
Baptiste's 2026 season will end with her owning an 18-13 record. We're certainly hoping she makes a full and speedy recovery.
