Here's who Huskies are hosting during big UW football recruiting weekend

UW's goal for the 2027 recruiting cycle was simple: Build on the success of Washington's 2026 class and help the Huskies continue to stack talent.

And UW has generally met those expectations after a strong start to the 2027 cycle. The Huskies currently hold 15 commitments, including six players considered four-star prospects by the 247Sports composite rankings. Their incomplete class currently ranks 15th nationally, though only USC (No. 7), Ohio State (No. 9), Oregon (No. 11) and Clemson (No. 14) have fewer commitments than Washington.

This weekend represents one of Washington's first major recruiting opportunities of the 2027 cycle.

Eight 2027 prospects, including quarterback Blake Roskopf, running back Jeremy Adeyanju, wide receiver Zerek Sidney, linebacker Titus Osterman and defensive lineman Tevita Nonu - all UW commits - will be in Seattle for their official visits as the recruiting season begins to accelerate, a source with knowledge of the situation told The Seattle Times.

Roskopf, Adeyanju and Nonu, Washington's most recent 2027 commit, are all four-star prospects.

But Washington will also host three uncommitted prospects this weekend, the source said. So here's a brief breakdown of the less familiar faces who might be seen on Montlake during the next couple days.

WR Dontay Tyson Jr. - Peoria High, Peoria, Ariz.

Washington already has commitments from a pair of wide receivers: local Sumner High standout Braylon Pope, a four-star prospect, and Sidney, a Goodyear, Ariz., native who is teammates with Roskopf at Desert Edge High.

Dontay Tyson Jr., a 6-foot-1, 190-pound wide receiver from Peoria, Ariz., may be the final piece to complete position coach Kevin Cummings' recruiting class. Tyson is a four-star recruit, the No. 42 wide receiver, No. 7 player in Arizona and the No. 325 player nationally.

This will be Tyson's second trip to Seattle. He previously visited Washington for its junior weekend in March. Texas A&M, which is expected to host Tyson on June 12, is the Peoria native's only other scheduled official visit.

Tyson, who has totaled 109 receptions for 1,448 yards receiving and 18 touchdowns during three seasons at Peoria High, already has a physical frame similar to current Husky wide receivers Chris Lawson, Trez Davis, Blaise LaVista, Deji Ajose and former UW wideout Raiden Vines-Bright, all recruited by Cummings.

Edge Chaz Gray - St. Joseph Regional High, Montvale, N.J.

UW has certainly made the front seven a priority for the 2027 cycle. Entering the weekend, UW already had four middle linebackers and three defensive linemen committed, led by four-star prospects Nonu and defensive tackle Jon Ioane.

However, the Huskies still haven't added an edge rusher. Chaz Gray, a 6-4, 250-pound New Jersey native, might offer a solution.

Gray is a composite three-star prospect, the No. 38 edge rusher, the No. 9 player in New Jersey and the No. 439 player nationally. Washington was the first school to offer Gray back in February 2025, nearly three months before any other Power Four program. He was recently visited in New Jersey by director of player personnel Jacob Crawford and linebackers coach Brian Odom, according to posts on his social media accounts.

Adding a pledge from Gray, while addressing a position of need, might also reinforce UW's presence in New Jersey. UW signed quarterback Derek Zammit from the Garden State during the 2026 recruiting cycle. Gray is also expected to visit Clemson and Tennessee before making his commitment.

Additionally, Chaz Gray's younger brother Tahj Gray is a composite five-star linebacker in the 2028 recruiting cycle and will accompany his brother to Seattle this weekend.

CB Kamil Loud - Bishop Gorman High, Las Vegas

Washington enjoyed significant success in Las Vegas during the 2026 cycle. The Huskies signed blue-chip safety Gavin Day and offensive tackle Dominic Harris, two of Nevada's top-five prospects according to 247Sports rankings.

And the Huskies have the chance to impress another Las Vegas standout this weekend when Kamil Loud, a 6-0 1/2, 170-pound cornerback from powerhouse program Bishop Gorman High visits Seattle. He's a four-star prospect, the No. 40 cornerback, the No. 3 player in Nevada and the No. 404 player nationally.

Loud, whose family originally hails from the Bay Area, has some significant football heritage. His father, also named Kamil Loud, played wide receiver at Cal Poly and was a seventh-round selection in the 1998 NFL draft before spending two seasons with the Buffalo Bills. His brother, Kyon Loud, started seven games at cornerback for Montana in 2025 and transferred to Duke for 2026.

The Las Vegas cornerback named a final six of Cal, Auburn, Miami, Florida State, Utah and UW on his social media accounts on May 26. After visiting Seattle, Loud is expected to take trips to Utah and Arizona State.
