Prep Highlights: Payton Miller's 8th inning walk-off double lifts Prairie to win over Heritage in 3A GSHL softball

May 7-Payton Miller's game-winning RBI double in the eighth inning lifted Prairie to a 7-6 victory over Heritage in Thursday's 3A Greater St. Helens League softball game.

The Falcons overcame four errors and a late-game Heritage comeback behind the performance of Mackenzie Moore, who struck out 17 Timberwolf batters and allowed just five hits in the complete-game effort.

Prairie built a 6-1 lead entering the sixth inning before Heritage stormed back behind a combined five runs over the fifth and sixth innings. The game was tied at 6-6 entering the eighth.

With one out in the eighth and after Moore was intentionally walked, Miller ripped a double to right center field that scored Moore.

Moore finished 2 for 2 at the plate with a home run, three runs scored and three RBI. Miller went 3 for 5 and Kylie Moore, Ariella Dreger, Alyssa Plew and Emily Berquist all drove in runs for Prairie.
