From the moment you stepped on the court or scuffed the dirt, Chuck Randall made the experience a special moment in your life.
As a leader of young men, he gave his players the tools for success as athletes and citizens. Most of all, you knew he really cared for the students, athletes and colleagues he mentored.
I was lucky enough to have Coach Randall as my basketball and baseball coach for two years. In that short time he gave my teammates and me the joy of success that dedication, discipline, and teamwork can accomplish. Playing for him was fun because you knew he had a special strategy up his sleeve that involved a unique “out of the box” view. His breakaway rim wasn’t an anomaly, it was who he was: an innovative mind who motivated those around him. His gift to me was making me a better player and a better person. As my teammate Mike Dahl said, “Every one of his players was important to him.”
