Unhappy with Trump-Putin pact
“As democracy is perfected, the office of president represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart’s desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.” H. L. Mencken 1880-1956.
We should remember the imperatives of the earlier Hitler-Stalin pact of 1939 and the resolution of doubt by these two powers who basically disagreed about so much. What has Putin agreed to by accepting the “trust” of Donald Trump? It bothers me, whatever the evolutionary differences of our two powers over these last 30 years or so. We cannot let a fool with all the ambiance of knowing lead us down the path of abuse; we must resist this rodomontade.
The Republicans are better staffed than to permit such a crazy carry their banner. I believe Bush or Christie are far better qualified, whether I would vote for them or not — Sanders or Clinton I would prefer, but I prefer sanity and convention rather than war and disruption, which appears to be the standard Trump flies.
